Oil light flashed for a second and 03 Kia Rio died, but started back up.?

This has happened to me once about 6 months ago and twice yesterday. What could cause this to happen? I've heard that Kia Rio's do some wierd things. Is this something I should worry about or have checked? The car has been known to act sluggish if the gas cap isn't on tight enough, but I'm not sure if this is something different? Thanks for your help.
Thanks Robert. I did just have my oil changed at Walmart & don't know what kind of oil they used.
