I am by no means good with cars. I can drive them, and tell you when they don't feel right and sometimes be right about what they are doing but I am completely confused on this one.
My uncle has us driving a 2002 Kia Sportage(i think 2002). It has 82000 on it and most of those miles have came from being pulled behind an RV. He had a problem with the 4 wheel drive in it, the front tires wouldn't lock in and got it fixed. He wants us to have it checked out by our mechanic now because it occasionally makes a crazy grinding and sputtering noise. I have noticed that when you slow down going down a hill when it makes the noise but anywhere else it drives like its new. My uncle thinks he broke a motor mount because he would put the gear on it to pull it behind the RV and put it up against a tree and let someone tell him if all 4 wheels were spinning or just the rear wheels.(He has no disregard for money because he is quite wealthy, I guess he doesn't know any mechanics because all his other vehicles always have a factory warranty on them and gets them serviced at the dealership. The sound is kind of hard to pinpoint where it is coming from because the mountains around here make it sound like its coming from what side the hills are on but it seems to sound like it is coming from up front. Could it be the motor mount or the 4wd is stuck halfway and sometimes catches or what?
the mechanic I use that gives really good prices to me is on vacation and not too mention I can think of ZERO shops open on saturday, genius.
