I dont want to talk down on the Hyundai, however they just havent been around as long as Pontiac. And on top of that, the G5 is just a chevrolet cobalt with the pontiac sign on it. I would go with the G5 before i would buy a hyundai. with any new company, especially producing something as intricate as an automobile, there can be and often are a lot of glitches that need to be worked out. Hyundai started building cars in the late 60's. Chevrolet started building cars in in the early 1900's. I think it was 1911, and in 1913 they first used the "bowtie" emblem. I hope that my opinion can help you make your decision. But just remember it is just an opinion. Good luck with your purchase.

I would stay with Pontiac but go to Edmund's.com and you can read reviews on both cars

The Hyundai Elantra is twice as good as the Pontiac G5 in overall Quality and reliability.
The G5 is the same vehicle as the Chevy Cobalt (think Chevy Cavalier). The interior is cheap plastic, reliability is below average and this car has the lowest owner satisfaction of any vehicle in any class.

The Hyundai Elantra, on the other hand, ranked 1st in its class in consumer reports testing (tied with the Honda Civic) and has an outstanding warranty.

Both cars depreciate rapidly, but the clear choice between these two if you are buying new is the Hyundai Elantra.
If you can afford the SE version, that is the one I recommend.

Pontiac G5.

I wouldn't trust my shoe being inside a Hyundai.
Pontiac's have a better brand name and they don't make bad cars. Hyundai on the other hand.....

Hope this helps.
