I'm getting my first car soon, and I really like the new Kia Forte Koup.

do you think a Kia would be good for my first car? if not, do you have any suggestions?

I'd rather ride a bicycle, at least it's safe and reliable.

"The newest Kias are actually pretty good,"

No they're not.

The Koup looks kinda cool but the appeal in the exterior styling starts to wash away when you actually start to drive the thing. Even for a first car where power isn't a necessity it is absolutely sluggish (and this is coming from Kia's "sports" model as well), the interior has more plastic than a Lego convention and its resale value is absolutely terrible mostly due to the fact that most Kias have been unreliable pieces of crap that make even Russian cars look bulletproof.

You can get a hell of a lot more bang for your buck if you go for a late-model used car like a Mazda3 or a Ford Focus. German-engineered chassis with a good specs list and decent reliability.

For a first car i guess kias are good if your not looking for anything other than cheap transport to work. Kia doesnt have a high rep there just point A to point B cars. If you like the forte coupe look into the ford focus honda civic or chevy cobalt. Those are all reliable very nice cars that will get great gas mileage and even have sport options. The cobalt SS is the cheapest and fastest car in the world currently. It beats alot of sports cars even! Same with the honda civic SI. You can also get many add on options such as leather gps and sun roofs. Things like that.
