2000 Kia Sephia.....?

I recently purchased a 2000 Kia Sephia with 92k. Now I have heard a lot of good things about the car and also a lot of bad. I need some help here though. I needed a car fast and it was what I could afford. The only problem I am having with it, is it acts like it wants to start stalling when I am driving, like its taking a breath or something (I know that sounds weird, but its the best way I can describe it) it is really irritating me. It has never actually stalled. Has anyone had experience with Sephia's? And if so, are they high maintence cars? How often should I get the oil changed and all that? I really dont know a lot about cars so if you could talk stupid to me, I would appreciate it..lol, Thanks!
Also I wanted to say that the car runs great except for that problem....it does seem to be cold natured though, and its "wind loud."
