i have a 97 kia sephia with 180k on it. i'm not trying to make it last forever just long enough so i can save up some money to get a better running car and get rid of this royal pain in the neck.

i'm going to start form the beginning in case something could be relevant

+ three months ago the crankshaft position sensor when out and i replaced it. (i pulled the code)

+ a week later i had another code that was a random multiple miss. i looked a the plugs and wires, the wires were new, the electrodes on the plugs were worn down so i replaced them. (i also ran the old test of firing her up in the dark and looking for spark jumping from the wires. also the person i bought her from had had the cap and rotor changed just before i bought her.)

little while later i got a code for a cylinder 1 miss and i can't figure out what's causing it.

i've tried

running a compression test on all the cylinders and i got some wired reading. one and four are at 180 two is at 165 and three is 150 and i don't know what this means, but it's getting enough compression to fire.

ruling out bad rings and valve seals i checked for spark and i have it on all cylinders.

i replaced the fuel injector on cyl 1, in frustration more then anything else, and she started ruining plugs every week or two; it looks like oil is getting on them.

when i replaced the spark plug last time it didn't help at all and she is running really rough, stalling at idle sometimes and i can smell gas in the exhaust. the radiator also starting leaking coolant all over the place. i fill it up with water and it's overheating again in about thirty minuets.

any ideas on what could be causing this, ways to test for a cause and temp cheap fixes would be much appreciated.

the only good news in all of this that i live really close to my work and i could walk there if needed.
