my dads 01 kia rio will soon be mine.
its a 4 cylinder 1.6liter DOHC engine.
it doesnt have variable valve timing, but it looks almost EXACTLY like a vtec engine.
it is a fun fast little car, and its almost identical, if not exact dimensions of a vtec block,
and if you take the valve cover off, the camshafts, timing belt, size, EVERYTHNG in the heads look IDENTICAL to the DOHC vtec engines, except that my camshafts dont have the 3rd "vtec" lobe, and my rocker arms are not "vtec" rocker arms (wich have the hydrolic pin that kicks vtec in at around 4,500 RPMs).
i dont know how far fetched the idea is,
but is it possible to put the vtec rockers and cams into this unit?
heres some pictures of the engine without a valve cover on it:

same cylinder head but different view:

i am aware of the fact that i might have to get the cam/rockers customized to the car,
and what would i have to do to get/order them?
i have never done any major modding, im 15, but i am very mechanically inclined for my age, and i can understand and comprehend stuff pretty well, so dont worry about me not understanding something, im sure i can keep up well.
thank you for all feedback, i am getting excited just thinking of all the stuff i can do with this!!(:
thanks in advance!
