I have 2 batteries that both tested good at autozone and my alternator tested good at 2 different autozones, on and off the car. As far as i can tell with my multimeter i can't find a short anywhere. the wires seem to be fine and i tested them for continuity and they all have continuity. The alternator wires do run to fuses and they all are good. If i unplug the positive cable on the battery while it's running the engine will stop. If i charge the battery real good it will read 12 volts (while running) then slowly decline until it dies. If I test the positive bolt on the alternator and the alternator case i get the same results. If some one could explain to me how the wiring from alternator works i might be able to figure it out.
i bought new battery terminals and cleaned the wires with baking soda water before installing them.
i know it is the alternator is not charging the battery. my question is why is the alternator not charging the battery when it tested good?
